Tales of the Cocktail® Announces Spirited Series of Seminars for 2014

This year’s lineup of 74 original and innovative seminars includes two new special programs—Technique Seminars and Exclusive Tasting Seminars.

NEW ORLEANS – February 10, 2014—Tales of the Cocktail®, the world’s premier cocktail festival, returns to New Orleans July 16-20 with another spirited lineup of original, informative and inspiring seminars. This year’s series of 74 new seminars will further Tales of the Cocktail’s commitment to education and development by offering opportunities to learn about practically every aspect of the cocktail and spirits industries from some of the biggest names in the business.

“Each year it gets more difficult for our volunteer committee to score the hundreds of proposals,” said Philip Duff, Tales of the Cocktail’s Director of Education and Chairman of the 2014 Seminar Committee. “After two rounds of evaluations, which included requesting rewrites of proposals that the committee felt would benefit from a second go-around, the committee is confident that the seminars chosen to be presented at Tales 2014 represent the freshest insights, most rigorous research, most compelling material and most captivating speakers in the whole world of cocktails and bars.”

New this year are two seminar series designed to offer more intimate, hands-on approaches to learning—Exclusive Tasting Seminars and Technique Seminars. The Exclusive Tasting Seminars will offer attendees intimate gatherings where no more than 20 people will have the opportunity to taste and learn about rare and hard-to-find spirits. The new Technique Seminars will take a hands-on approach to seminars. In groups of no more than 50 people, the class will give attendees the chance to learn innovative bartending techniques by

“We’re very excited about these two new seminar opportunities,” said Paul G. Tuennerman, Co-Founder at Tales of the Cocktail®. “Attendees have been calling for more workshop-like courses so we’re happy to be able to offer these unique opportunities to learn. We know they will quench their thirst for knowledge.”

The selection of seminars to be included in this year’s festivities is a rigorous and structured process voted on by a committee of 42 judges from around the world. Phillip Duff, Tales of the Cocktail’s Director of Education, leads the committee in selecting a curated selection of seminars that cover a broad range of topics.

“Tales of the Cocktail attracts a global audience, and its needs have become similarly broad,” said Paul Clarke, Executive Editor of Imbibe. “The seminar selection process chaired by Philip Duff is a means to ensure a wide variety of educational sessions are available for an audience with a big desire to learn more about spirits and cocktails.”

Tickets to this year’s seminars and all Tales of the Cocktail® 2014 events go on sale March 30th. For seminar descriptions and more information about Tales of the Cocktail® 2014, visit TalesoftheCocktail.com.
