Black Paloma

When I bounded down the Hotel Monteleone staircase to the Kahlúa Coffee Bar on my second morning at Tales of the Cocktail I thought, “Kahlúa in my coffee sounds like a delicious way to begin to the day!”

Little did I know I was about to experience what would become one of my favorite brunch cocktails. This refreshing drink was created by Rick Stutz (a.k.a. Kaiser Penguin). Who knew Kahlúa could be so versatile?

Black Paloma
1 1/2 oz tequila
1 1/2 oz Kahlúa
3/4 oz freshly squeezed lime juice
1/2 oz freshly squeezed grapefruit juice
2 dashes Angostura bitters
pinch of sea salt
club soda

Shake tequila, Kahlúa, bitters, salt and juices. Pour into a Collins glass filled with ice. Top with club soda.
