Shanghai Lemon Drop

In addition to lemons, I’ve become more or less an addict of ginger, of late. I’ve made my own ginger-infused vodka for some time, but of late my concoction seems too sweet, and I have been preferring the sharper bite of Yazi Ginger Vodka, from Hood River Distillers. They have some really nice recipes at their Yazi recipes page (ha ha ha… they’re still using Cold Fusion for their web site … ahem) but the three best are clearly the Yazitini, the Mischief, and the Shanghai Lemon Drop. I prefer the latter with orange bitters, so my variant would look more like:
Shanghai Lemon Drop
- 2 parts Yazi Ginger Vodka
- 3 parts Limoncello Gioia Luisa
- 2 splashes of Fee’s Orange Bitters (or Angostura Orange Bitters)
Shake with ice. Strain into cocktail glass. Garnish with a lemon twist, if you can wait to put it to your lips.
(with a nod and apologies to Dragonwell Asian Bistro in Portland, who did the original)
mmmm… ahhh…
